“Anyone who has heard me speak in the last two years – kindergarten is play. Play is work. That’s what kindergartners do. They can do other things as well – they can be introduced to phonics – but you learn by playing, the same way that pre-k is very hands-on doing.
Superintendents have heard me say this over and over again – there has to be play in kindergarten – not all day all the time, but it has to be part of it.”
